Macao statistics and Census Bureau data show that in April this year

The index (116.09) increased by 6.76% on a yearly basis, which resulted from the sale of new clothes in summer.

The price index rose by 4.42% on a monthly basis.



In April, the composite consumer price index increased by 0.61% on a monthly basis. As a result of the summer new clothes listing, the price index of clothing increased by 4.42% on a monthly basis; on the other hand, the traffic price index fell by 0.35%.

The CPI of category A and B increased by 0.56% and 0.68% respectively.


According to the statistics and Census Bureau of Macao, the composite consumer price index (116.09) increased by 6.76% in April.

The increase was mainly driven by rising fees for outgoing meals and increased prices of fresh meat and vegetables.


In the twelve months ending April this year, the composite consumer price index increased by 6.27% over the previous period, while the average consumer price index for category A and B increased by 6.09% and 6.49% respectively.


Compared with April 2011, the most obvious categories of goods and services were tobacco and alcohol (+29.55%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (+9.52%) and miscellaneous goods and services (+7.58%), mainly due to the increase in the cost of outgoing meals, the increase in the prices of fresh meat, vegetables and gold ornaments.


On the other hand, the price index of communications fell by 6.55% per annualized year.

In April this year, the CPI of category A (115.47) and class B (116.72) increased by 7.01% annually.


In the first four months of this year, the composite consumer price index increased by 6.40% over the same period last year. The price index of tobacco and alcohol (+27.76%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (+9.59%) and miscellaneous goods and services (+8.44%) increased significantly. The price index of communications fell by 6.45%.

The CPI of category A and B recorded an increase of 6.39% and 6.69% respectively.


The 2008/2009 based composite consumer price index reflects the impact of price changes on the overall population of Australia.

The CPI represents about 50% of households, with an average monthly expenditure of between 6000 and 18999 yuan, while the class B consumer price index represents about 30% households. The average monthly expenditure is between 19000 and 34999 yuan in Macao.
